It is true, there are lots of things we planned and even worked towards but were unable to complete them. This should not cast us down as there are on the other hand lots of things which we’ve accomplished.
Even as we bid farewell to 2016, I want you to know that aside all those unfinished tasks with which you’d enter 2017, there are three important things you should do before the year runs out.
1. Reflect and Assess: all the things you did or encountered in 2016 have added to your repository of life experiences, use them as lessons. A couple of weeks ago I wrote about how you can make use your experiences as learning boards read it. Reflection helps you see yourself in a more clearer lens while assessment shows you exactly how you fared. What else do you need other than these. For instance, sit down and deliberately introspect yourself, analyse how your months have been this year.
2. Celebrate your wins: of all the tasks you’d undertaken in the year under review there must be some in which you succeed. Celebrating success is gratitude which is the mother of increase. This celebratory feeling puts you in high spirits and gets you well motivated for the tasks ahead of you in the New Year. To easily do this, write a list of things you succeeded at this year. You’d be surprised at their number.
3. Plan towards 2017: in as much as I place so much emphasis on the doing part of things, I believe that “anyone who fails to plan, plans to fail.” consequent to your assessment of 2016, you decide how you want 2017 to be and what you must do to help you make it happen. You must align your goals, put a deadline to them, break them into tiny bits so as to ease off the pressure of having a mountain of work awaiting you. Remember, too much work load overwhelms.
There you have it three things you can and should do before 2016 runs out. Now get to work, reflect, assess, celebrate and plan. How about that?
See you in 2017
