One Big Reason your so many goals never get accomplished

It’s commonplace nowadays to hear someone advice another: “set a goal.” or “Make it a target!”

Goal setting is such an integral part of our everyday lives that gives us a focus, a direction or path to thread.

In my bid to keep up growing and developing (being better day by day), I’ve always been among those who are so eager to set goals but haven’t been on the fortunate side of things when it comes to achieving them.

Everytime I fail to hit a deadline or attain a goal, I keep asking myself -Why is this so? Why can’t I achieve these goals?

I then found out that it wasn’t my goals that were wrong it was my approach to achieving them that was at fault.

Do yourself a favour – Take Action Now

Whenever you take action, you get better off when you had only planned, intended, wished or aspired. The statements below are commonly made by people who have a big wishbone and don’t back it up with a backbone of doing:

‘I wish I were a writer’,

‘I wish I were a dancer’,

‘I wish I had started a blog’,

‘I intend to join a music group’,

‘I am an aspiring businessman’,

Does this  Sound like you? Many people are in the category of good intention makers but bad action takers.

What is your definition of success?

A few weeks ago I was conversing with a friend whom I hadn’t seen for three years.
After the usual, ‘long time no see’ and ‘how have you been?’ salutations,
he asked me a question – ‘What does success mean to you?’ I was silent for a while and he added, ‘What’s your life target?’
I was dumbfounded by the gravity of the question and couldn’t answer. All through my journey back to school I kept pondering on it – what does success mean to me personally?
I didn’t get to the bottom of it until recently. I now understand what my friend was asking me to do.

Rewriting – A needful tool for writers

Last week I was reading a short story online. It was a good story – suspense filled, captivating flow and well described scenes.
But then as I was reading I began to bump into some potholes.
I was irritated and had to stop reading it.
Let me ask you, Have you ever left an article because it was poorly written?
Or better still, Have you ever written a piece only to receive feedback on it saying: “nice concept but please rewrite”?
If you belong to a writing group or work with an Editor, I bet your answer would be yes!

Do you work but see No results? Do this!

The 21st century human being is an ever engaged being;
A busy bee or better still a buzzing being.
To him the 24 hour day is grossly inadequate and thus he always has tons of undone tasks.
This causes him to undermine his efforts. “I’m not doing enough!” he asserts.
The truth is, we all want to do more,  be more and have more. In short, we crave increased productivity.

To be more productive you need to literally do more. Great, this is why you pick at several tasks.

Just do it – Nothing else works

The’s something about achieving any task, succeeding over any hurdle or beating any Target. As long as you don’t do it – it doesn’t get done. It remains just another item on your task list.
It is true that for many people there’s nothing more daunting than starting out at a task.

Writer’s Block – My candid opinion plus A Way out

It’s spoken about frequently whenever writers meet.
You’ve heard of it or might’ve even experienced it.
Some believe it’s not real but just a creation of lazy writers.
Others claim it happens; that it comes and sucks up their zeal leaving them practically word-less and to some extent with no idea!

One basic truth about making your life count

The issue

There is this certain surge by people today to live a life of purpose. To answer a call to their life’s work (vocation). This increased interest is well reflected in the increasing amount of publications on this subject in recent years. Some of these include Jeff Goins’ Art of work, Frances Okoro’s 10 steps to walking in purpose, Daniel Nicolas’ Innate Abilities, Wilson Biyama’s Purpose, the ultimate pursuit and a host of others. The list is endless. All these are geared towards teaching people to walk in purpose; to live for a cause; to live a life that is worth the days you’ve got; to making your life count.
I know these books had taught you a lot about this subject.
But, the question remains: how exactly do you make your life count? What is the nitty-gritty involved in making your life count?
Well, this post would tell you about a basic truth about this subject.

2016 A New Year – Here’s my article

It is a New Year.

It’s 2016.

Everybody out there is busy wishing. Wishing that 2016 goes successfully, that they get this and that and other cool stuff. Wishing is very good it indicates hope and life.

But, I want you to see 2016 in another way. In a whole New Perspective.

A New Perspective.

I want you to view the year 2016 as a new book containing 366 pages. You decide what you write on each of those pages. To make 2016 a successful year you need to see each moment as an opportunity. Begin to see the goldmine in every second. Kayode Ajomole of Decounsellor would say “you need to wear an opportunity lens”. The way you look at everyday circumstances determines the way you think about them, the way you act towards them and thus your attitude.

I would like you to remember to :

  1. Set A goal for 2016 for he who fails to plan, plans to fail.
  2. Schedule your tasks to save time.
  3. Prioritize your tasks to save resources.
  4. Be happy and
  5. Be Yourself.

Additionally, you should tag the year – it’s cool. For instance I call 2016

“My year of Multiple Distinctions, Divine Breakthroughs and Continued Excellence.”

So go and have a Happy New Year.

Ideation the first step in writing

Are we doing justice to ideas?

A couple of weeks ago I told you how to concentrate on writing one thing at a time. That was preceded by a post on where I go to get inspired to write. Each of these topics had to do with the primary thing in writing – ideas. Without them there’d be nothing to write or talk about. Ideas are the crux of writing, the nucleus.
